Situated at a distance of around 20 kilometers from Shimla in Himachal Pradesh, Kufri is a little less famous than its hyped counterparts of Shimla and Manali. Running in the footstep of Himalayan range, Kufri is slowly and steadily picking its popularity among the nature lovers. Ever since its establishment in the year 1819, Kufri has been a preferred destination for many tourists, especially trekkers. Kufri is considered to be the origin point for trekkers trekking to Manali, Fagu, Shimla, and other adjoining places.
Famous for its pleasant weather and fascinating natural beauty, Kufri venues various festivals, especially the famous winter sports festival held in February every year. The festival attracts tourists from different parts of the world. If you are a skiing freak, there can’t be any better place than Kufri. Activities like sliding down the hills and other adventurous activities can make your trip really endeavoring. Moreover, it is a home to various wildlife, as you can find them in the Himalayan Nature Park located in the outskirts of Kufri. Being a sleepy hamlet, you might not find hotels rich in comfort; however, there are various staying options with some scenic views of the mountain range. Eating options are limited with few street stalls offering some local foods.
The best time to visit Kufri is from March to November with the temperature varying from as low as 12 degrees in November to around 36 degrees in May. With a driving time just 30 minutes from Shimla, the place can be visited any time during the year. If you are travelling from Delhi, Kufri falls at a distance of 370 kilometers through the Grand Trunk Road. You can also fly down to Chandigarh and board a cab or any other tourist vehicle to reach Kufri.
